About the Instruction Manual

Most aspects of building and editing your artHIVES website should be self evident by the presence of onscreen prompts and instructions. This instruction manual is designed to compliment the general intuitive design of the artHIVES editing system. Advanced users may find little reason to consult this manual, however it is recommended that all users read the Troubleshooting section.

Inventory Tracking

Your shopping cart automatically keeps track of stock levels when you have more than one of the same product for sale, ideal for limited editions.

You can set the quantity of items available when you set the Price Options and also adjust stock levels manually if you sell products by other means other than your website.

When a customer places a product in their cart, your stock level is automatically reduced by one.  This will reserve that item for 10 minutes which should give your customer ample time to checkout.  The item will be returned to your inventory if not purchased within 10 minutes.

Countdown
When a customer first adds an item to their cart they will see a 10 minute countdown so that they will be aware of how much time they have to complete their purchase.  The countdown applies to each item added to a cart so if your customer adds more than one item, the oldest item in the cart will be removed first after 10 minutes and the remaining items will stay in their cart with the count-down adjusted to reflect to amount of time the next oldest item has remaining to be checked out.

Multiple Cart System

Because any sale is a direct transaction between the buyer and the artist, artHIVES has developed a unique multi-cart system which allows customers to navigate between different artist’s websites and make purchases from more than one artist, resulting the the creation of more than one shopping cart.

In this case payments to each artist need to be processed separately.  After the customer makes payment to the first artist they will be returned to artHIVES in order to process the next artist's item/s in the buyer's cart.
