Heinz Riegler New Blocks Series

Taking time out from working on a number of audio based projects and his co-curatorship of the minus20degree Art and Architecture Biennale in alpine Austria, Heinz Riegler returns to his visual practice with a series of watercolour-on-paper works. Titled Blocks, Riegler views these new works in direct continuatiuon from his previous Unlearning series.

International Women's Day feature in The Independent

Kathryn Brimblecombe-Fox's 2009 painting She was not made out of his head to surpass him, nor from his feet to be trampled on, but from his side to be equal to him, and near his heart to be dear to him. [Quote: Jamieson-Fausset Brown Bible Commentary]  was the main visual feature on the UK's The Independent newspaper's 7 March 2015 special International Women's Day supplement.

Nick Olsen picked up by Sydney Gallery

Nick Olsen has recently been invited to exhibit with Traffic Jam Galleries in Sydney's Neutral Bay. After a sell out show at Brisbane Modern Art ( Brunswick St , Fortitude Valley) in 2014, Nick was picked up by prominent North Sydney gallery. His recent Freeway series will be exhibited during April.

Des Rolph completes MAVA Project

This year, Des Rolph completed a Masters of Art in Visual Arts at Queensland College of Art, Griffith University. The project for research resulted in 42 small works, oil on canvas, that documented for historical reference, the visual landscape of the mountain and a 360 degree view of Brisbane. These works were painted en plein air quickly to reflect the artist's spontaneous relationship with the landscape, using expressive brushwork while maintaining recognisable imagery.

Cosmological Display

Kathryn Brimblecombe-Fox has created a COSMOLOGY gallery on her website. The Gallery displays a selection of oil on linen and gouache on paper paintings.

Goodbye Doggett Street

The final Doggett Street Studio exhibition at its current location at 85 Doggett Street, Newstead - opens on Friday 15 March (6-8pm) and continues on Saturday 16 March (10am-4pm). The exhibition will feature the first and last ever sale of artworks by Allyson Reynolds, Scott Whitaker and Stephen Mok. While Doggett Street Studio will be closing at its current location, it will continue to do projects into the future.

Kathryn Brimblecombe-Fox - New galleries

Kathryn Brimblecombe-Fox has created two new galleries in readiness for Christmas. One gallery features small oil on linen paintings under $1000 and the other features works on paper under $1000.

Catherine Mc Cue Boes at BSL

Catherine Mc Cue Boes has been invited to showcase her artist books in a group exhibition - In The Light of Small Things - opening on Friday 7 September 2012 at the Brisbane Square Library (266 George Street, Brisbane, Qld. Ph: 07 34034166). Catherine describes her work as reactionary; producing works on paper and artist books has been her main objective for the past ten years. Influenced by literature, poetry, science and the environment, Catherine’s prints, artist books and works on paper portray her technical and creative ability.

Sue Beyer - Open Studio

On Saturday 6 October (10am-4pm), Sue Beyer's Vanda Street studio (24 Vanda St, Woolloongabba) will be holding an open studio day as part of the Brisbane Artist Run Initiative (BARI) Festival. The open studio gives the public a chance to see what happens in the usually private artist studio. Work will also be for sale from Sue's new series of paintings.

Nick Olsen - Art For Sharks auction

Nick Olsen will be donating an artwork for the Australian Marine Conservation Society's Art For Sharks charity auction. The auction will be held on 26 October at the Brisbane School of Art's Bleeding Heart Gallery. Over twenty artists from around Australia are donating artworks for the auction to help raise money for AMC's cause. Nicks Work will also be on show at the GalleryOXO throughout October for the annual ROSL Scholars exhibition.

Yvonne Mills-Stanley showing with Rebecca Hossack

Yvonne Mills-Stanley is now showing with the Rebecca Hossack Gallery (London and New York). Yvonne is continuing on with her Grass Series of paintings and you can see her work at the British Art Fair (12-16 September).

Roger Lane on The Brisbane River

Roger Lane will be part of the exhibition - The Brisbane River - which is currently on at The Tattersalls Club (215 Queen St, Brisbane, Qld) until 7 September and then at Waterfront Place (1 Eagle St, Brisbane, Qld) from 10-21 September.

Jimmy Rix in the Vineyards

Jimmy Rix's - Shy - has been selcted to exhibit in Sculpture in the Vineyards (Wollombi, Hunter Valley, NSW) from 3 November to 3 December. Rix's Shy also recently won the Delta Sculpture Prize at Sculpture on the Greens (Wyong, NSW) in May this year.

Heinz Riegler in Salzburg's Kapitelplatz

Drawing heavily on time spent high in the Austrian alps, Heinz Riegler's new work - Auflösung - examines themes of isolation and repetition using materials mostly found in and around the Oberpleissling area of Salzburg state. The work contains six pieces which are currently in Salzburg's Kapitelplatz square until 7 September. The other parts of the series include an album of music - Survey #2 (One Thousand Dreams I Never Had) and an award winning audiovisual piece - Motion Portrait #1.

Helena Lloyd - Artist Residency at Eumarella Shores

Helena Lloyd is working on a 4 month artist residency at Eumarella Shores, Lake Weyba on the Sunshine Coast. She will be conducting artist workshops and producing a body of work focusing on the rich, natural, and fragile biodiversity of the area. This work will culminate in an end of year art show to be held at Eumarella Shores

Anthony Bennett at Art Melbourne

Anthony Bennett will be featured by Richard Martin Art at Art Melbourne (August 1-4). Bennett's exhibition - apollonian and dionysian - features 15 new works and continues his exploration into the uselessness of celebrity in the post-minogue-ist style.

Milkana Kirova finishes Townsville water feature

Brisbane-based Artist Milkana Kirova was commissioned to create the custom art panels that form the base of a water feature in Townsville’s North Shore Town Square. Milkana sculpted in clay the relief for the colour glass reinforced panels in March 2012. The Town Square was completed in July and now hosts NQ markets every fortnight.

Kym Barrett - Mixed media workshop

Kym Barrett is running a mixed media workshop where you can create your own mini-series of abstracted works which will involve free line drawing from the surrounding environment, discussion about composition, contrast and space as well as elements of design. It's running at Coolum Beach Community Centre (Jack Morgan Park, Coolum, Qld) on Saturday 28 July (9am-4pm) and costs $55 (Bookings by 14 July).

Reynolds and Riegler to collaborate

Visual artist Allyson Reynolds and composer/musician Heinz Riegler have received a RADF grant to create an interdisciplinary installation in which Reynolds will produce new large scale paintings and Riegler a new musical score. Both Reynolds's and Riegler's recent works have sought to identify naturally occurring patterns and oscillations and the works created will merge to form a unique installation, which will be exhibited in the Focus Gallery (for new media) at the Caboolture Regional Art Gallery in February 2013.

Harriet Posner - Those moments

Over the next two months, Harriet Posner is releasing - Those moments - gentle cartoons about daily life. Her artwork can be viewed at Indooroopilly Library through July/August and at the Brisbane Art Expo (Convention Centre) on Stand A16 (13-15 July). She is having a solo exhibition at Kingaroy Art Gallery through August, and joining the Nudgee College Winners' show at Nudgee College (10-13 August).

A.J. Taylor - The Mapleton Suite

A.J. Taylor's new work - The Mapleton Suite - is a group of closely observed studies of rainforest trees in the Mapleton Forest Reserve (Sunshine Coast hinterland) which is currently on at Jan Murphy Gallery (486 Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley, Qld. Ph: 07 3254 1855). Devised as a complement to - Mapleton - an exhibition of large scale works at Martin Browne Contemporary (Sydney) earlier this year, the new show presents a more intimate view of the Australian rainforest. The exhibition runs to 26 May.

Catherine Parker on Indian tour

You can experience vibrant Rajasthan with artist Catherine Parker where you collate a unique visual diary of your personal experiences on a sketchbook tour. A small group of 8-10 will visit traditional artisans and be culturally inspired between 23 September and 6 October.

Helen Malone - Life's Journey

Helen Malone has two artists books (courtesy of Artspace Mackay and State Library of Queensland) included in the exhibition - Life's Journey: Artists Books from Queensland Collections - at the Redland Gallery (Cnr Middle and Bloomfield Streets, Cleveland, Qld. Ph: 07 38298899) from 6 May to 17 June.

Catherine Mc Cue Boes at BRAG

Catherine Mc Cue Boes has been invited to exhibit at Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery (1 Barolin Street Bundaberg, Qld. Ph: 07 41304750) as part of the Green Series. Showing in the Vault - Putting A Lid on it - is an installation of artist books /boxes which opens on 5 June and runs to 5 August.

Mel Brigg - Beyond the Realms

Mel Brigg's new show - Beyond the Realms - combines old and new works at Red Hill Gallery (63 Musgrave Road, Red Hill, Qld. Ph: 07 3368 1442). The exhibitions opens on 15 April (2-4pm). and continues to 29 April.

Helen Malone at Australian War Memorial

Helen Malone's artist book - The Battle Within - is on display at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra for six months. It is situated in a commemorative/reflective space on the way out of the Memorial. The book deals with the effects of war on returned servicemen and the structure of the book reflects an inward post-traumatic state.
